Guardian's of the Galaxy shattered all previous box office records for the month of August thus cementing Marvel's status as THE brand when it comes to comic book movies, and cementing the status of it's director and cast as a bunch of talented people. The Pundits weigh in on all the things they loved, liked, and sort didn't get about it...but mostly they loved it. We also touch on a few things related to music, and we discuss the Marvel affect on the rest of Hollywood which is turning out to be a bad thing...specifically as it related to Warner Bros. and Sony's crop of "super hero" movies. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the #1 movie at the box office. The Purge Anarchy comes in at #2 while Cameron Diaz and Jason Segal's "Sex Tape" pretty much bombs. Orphan Black's coming to comic book form and so is Fight Club part 2. There's already a bevy of San Diego Comic Con pre news hype being generated, and The Pundits can't figure out why Hollywood made not 1, but 2 Hercules movies in the same year. Captain America The Winter Soldier is your #1 movie for two weeks in a row. The Pundits weigh in on it's place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe....was it good, better than the 1st WHAT? Coachella is going on, and there were quite a few noteworthy performances including an Outkast reunion and NAS celebrating Illmatic's 20 year anniversary. 300 Rise of an Empire took your #1 spot at the box office. Cody saw Peabody & Mr. Sherman and wasn't to stoked on it. The Pundits weigh in on the finale of True Detective and also breakdown the crazy theories surrounding the entire series, most of which were pretty far fetched and rally unfounded. The also dive into the topic of TV shows that engage fans on a deeper level in regards to the overall mystery at play. Frank Ocean told Chipotle to Fu** Off! The Lego Movie was #1 again at the box office. Robocop opens really soft considering how much money it cost to make. The Guardian's of the Galaxy movie gets a trailer, and Cody & Mark dig it! Ice Cube has a hit in Ride Along, which was the #1 movie at the box office this past weekend. Frozen shows no signs of slowing down, and neither does Justin Bieber's drug habit.
